Back to School Safety

Back to School Safety is Important.

back to school safety If you have kids, you know that back to school is the beginning of a very busy time of the year. After a long summer it’s time to get everyone back into the routine. That means earlier mornings, making school lunches and ensuring that everyone makes it to school in time. Not only do you need to focus on school itself, but you also need to spend time with all of the additional games, sports and clubs that come along with it. This is the time of year when your kids start soccer and band and choir and a vast array of after school and weekend activities. Make sure to invest in back to school safety.

No matter what your children are into or how old they are, chances are that you’ll be busy running around with your kids. Unfortunately, that means you may also be paying less attention to security, both your family’s and your property’s. Home security and family safety should always be at the front of your mind, but when you’re busy you could forget. It’s easier to leave the door open while you’re carrying in groceries and simultaneously trying to get your children in the car in time for baseball practice. It’s faster to not set your home alarm system when you leave the house to pick up your kids from school. It will only take ten minutes, right? It’s more convenient to leave your home unlocked and your alarm system turned off so your kids can let themselves in when they get home.

These acts may seem like small lapses in security, but they can cause greater issues. The problem is that burglars, robbers and thieves understand how busy this time of year is as well. They know that people are in a rush and that they may let their guard down in some instances. They realize that you may not set your home alarm system each time. They use these opportunities to strike.

Studies have shown that many burglars scout the homes they wish to attack in advance. They look for patterns and try to figure out when the family may not be at home. They watch for weaknesses and think of ways to exploit them. They will watch your home for a couple of days and if they notice you always leave at 3pm to pick up your kids and that you never set your home alarm system during that time, they will take advantage. Keep these facts in mind for back to school safety.

You may think that you’re more vulnerable in the summer when you’re on vacation or away for the weekend, but in those situations you probably have the time to focus on security before you leave your home. You will almost certainly turn on your home alarm system if you are leaving for a week in the summer. You may not do the same if you are leaving to drive your kids to school.

It’s important to put that same amount of focus in year round. Always turn on your home alarm system when you head out, regardless of for how long. Your alarm system is the best way to keep your family safe and secure and prevent burglars from attacking your home.

Moving Security Tips for Moving Homes or Offices
moving security Moving is stressful. It’s difficult to keep track of all of the tasks required as well as the movers, your belongings, your family and everything else. With all of this stress it’s easy to let your guard down and leave yourself, your home or your possessions vulnerable. However, moving security is important.

Here are a few quick tips that will keep you secure while you’re moving:

Moving Security Advice

  • Always lock all doors when moving
    • It’s convenient to leave your front door unlocked while you carry boxes and furniture in and out. Unfortunately, an open or unlocked front door also gives thieves an easy opportunity to strike. Don’t leave unlocked doors unattended.
      • Check your new location for security features and flaws
        • Locate all weak points in the new property. Large hedges can be a great hiding place for potential burglars. A side door to the garage can be an easy entry point. Check all windows and doors and make sure they’re strong and secure. Change the locks on your new place. You have no idea how many people have copies of the keys.
      • Get references for your movers
        • These people are handling all of your important possessions. Make sure you can trust them. This is crucial for moving security.
      • Keep track of your belongings
        • When it comes to moving, being organized is imperative. Keep track of your belongings and make sure every box is moved. Using a numbering system can help with moving security. Label each box with a number and the name of the room it will be delivered to. Keep a master list of all boxes to make sure nothing is lost or stolen during the move. Don’t wait to unpack to make sure everything made it. If you do, you may find yourself in your new house two weeks later missing some of your valuables.
      • Make sure your financial and personal information is safe
        • Don’t pack items like birth certificates, passports and banking information. These items can be used to steal your identity. This is one a crucial aspect of moving security. Carry these important documents with you at all times until the move is complete. It’s also important to contact your bank, your credit card company and any other agencies to let them know you’re moving. You don’t want important personal information being mailed to your old location where it could end up in the wrong hands.
      • Don’t make it obvious that you’re moving
        • Thieves know how chaotic moving is. They will use this opportunity to take advantage. All of your belongings should always be in a safe place (either inside either of your properties or on a vehicle.)
      • Move your alarm service
        • Don’t leave it until the last minute. Let your alarm company know that you’re moving and arrange to have your service moved. You don’t want to move into your new property and find yourself unprotected.
By following these moving security tips you can keep you, your property and your belongings safe.

Expert Advice & Personal Security Tips – Nadia Fezzani: Joel The Ripper
personal security tipsNadia Fezzani is a Canadian journalist who has conducted extensive research and interviews with many notorious American serial killers. As a specialist on serial killers, Ms. Fezzani gives conferences on the topic to university students and to different organizations. She also works with production companies on TV documentaries. She’s gotten into the minds of some of the most dangerous serial killers alive and learned to understand how they think. She has used this knowledge to provide helpful personal security tips on how you can avoid becoming a victim of a violent attack.

Personal Security Tips & Life Saving Advice From Serial Killers

People tend to believe that people such as British Columbia serial killer, Robert Pickton, are of a rare species. Yet, in addition to approximately 40 serial killers already caught in Canada, many Canadian serial murderers run free. In fact, 12 serial killers were notorious enough to be given nicknames without ever being found. They still live somewhere among us. The Edmonton Prostitute Killer, the Canada Highway murderer, the Highway 16 Killer, the London Ontario Killer, the NW Territories Headhunter, The Ontario Lover’s Lane Killer, The Ottawa Teen Killer, The Toronto Hospital for Sick Children Murderer, the Toronto Prostitute Executioner, the Toronto Rape Slayer, the Montreal Boys Slasher and the Montreal Gay Ripper are all serial killers who were never caught. Also, many homicides will never be linked together even if some of the murderers are captured. It is sometimes impossible to know if the crimes were committed by the same individual.

Personal Security Tips

What can we do to avoid being victims of attackers? We all know the basic rules: lock your doors, do not talk to strangers, get an alarm system, have a guard dog at home and trust your instincts. Other less-known advice includes having deadbolt locks on all doors and avoiding wearing a pony tail at night. In addition, never bring God into a conversation when you face an attacker, as it will only enrage them.

Fortunately for us, American serial killers today open up to give us tricks in their own words on how to better protect ourselves from others like them. Their advice is effective against any type of aggressor and important personal security tips. Take their tips into consideration since they come from the experts and, ironically, usually relate to their own crimes.

Joel The Ripper

A little bullied boy from kindergarten, always rejected, adopted Joel Rifkin was treated terribly during his entire childhood at school. His father then killed himself after being diagnosed with cancer, which put Joel into an even greater depression phase. Although he had two friends and a few girlfriends we can count on one hand, he was withdrawn into silence and developed a “social phobia”. Consequently, he turned to prostitutes for 17 years and became addicted, to a point where street workers were his main expenses. During his activities, he contracted herpes, gonorrhoea and was tested positive for hepatitis (he later on found out he did not actually contract hepatitis). He killed 17 of the prostitutes. He did so out of rage, out of vengeance and to keep them from dying miserably from drugs or diseases.

He even murdered to save husbands from contracting AIDS before going back to their wives. Today, he wants to start a foundation that would help “eliminate” prostitutes, by helping them to leave the streets and housing them after detoxication, so they can move on with their life.

Security Advice & Personal Security Tips

Street girls don’t have to be anywhere on a regular schedule, so if they are missing for a couple of days, no one really notices. When thinking of your own personal security tips, avoid being in that situation; tell people where you are going, who is accompanying you and when you’ll be back.

With Internet dating becoming increasingly popular today, if you’re going to meet someone for the first time, go with another person you trust. Your friend doesn’t have to sit with you; he or she can hang out in the background. This is another crucial personal security tips.

However, if you ever end up alone at some point and are in a situation where you feel you have to defend yourself, don’t go for the throat but rather kick or punch lower. This has a better effect: no matter how big the guy is, if you hit the right spot, he’s down!

The main reason people add cameras in addition to their existing home security services and alarm systems is because they want additional peace of mind. While it is good to be alerted whenever someone gains unauthorized access to your home, it’s even better to be able to see the person that has broken in.

Types of Home Security Options

Wired home security cameras are good for situations where you won’t be moving the camera and wiring is available. They are often difficult to install in existing homes. The main advantaged to wired cameras is that their signal is less likely to be interrupted, disrupted or hacked.

Wireless home security services, for example cameras can be installed much easier than wired ones. They can usually be moved and repositioned within a home as required. However, it’s important to note that in some cases other electronic devices (such as wireless Internet setups or cordless phones) can interfere with their signal.
